SEUK is a new trade body for the sharing economy, set up by 20 of the most influential peer-to-peer companies, to champion the sector in the UK.

A fast-growing trend, the sharing economy allows people to share property, resources, time and skills through online platforms, unlocking previously unused, or under-used assets.

SEUK is a voluntary group that will represent the sharing economy sector, ensure best practice and act as a single voice for the industry. The group has signed up to a central code of conduct and will work together to develop a kitemark for responsible sharing practice. There will also be an annual conference and research published on issues affecting sharing economy businesses and consumers.

SEUK was set-up following the publication of ‘Unlocking the sharing economy’, a government-commissioned, independent review written by Debbie Wosskow (founder of Love Home Swap) in November 2014.
